The project “Heritage Futures Lab: Youth Co-Creating Cultural Landscapes” brings together students and academic mentors from Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Poland to explore how cultural landscapes can be preserved and used sustainably in the face of contemporary challenges such as overtourism, minority heritage protection and pressure on historic environments.

The project is coordinated by Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University in cooperation with the Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

Project implementation period: August–December 2026

The core activity of the project is an international youth mobility programme in Prague involving students aged 18–25 from the participating countries. Through field visits, workshops, discussions and collaborative teamwork, participants will exchange experiences and co-create practical ideas for sustainable cultural landscape initiatives in their local communities.

The programme includes:

interactive seminars and discussions with experts;
field exploration of Prague as a living cultural landscape;
study visits to cultural and natural heritage sites;
collaborative work in international teams within the Heritage Futures Lab;
preparation of a joint digital learning resource on cultural landscapes and heritage practices in Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Poland.

The project aims to strengthen cooperation between young people from the Visegrad region and Ukraine, encourage intercultural dialogue and support youth participation in cultural heritage and sustainability initiatives. The project will result in three team-based concepts for cultural landscape initiatives and an open digital learning resource presenting examples of heritage practices from Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Poland.

About the Grant

The project is co-financed by the governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from the International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.

The International Visegrad Fund is an international donor organisation established by the governments of the Visegrad Group countries (Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). The fund supports regional cooperation through grants, scholarships, and artistic residencies, with a special focus on cooperation between the V4 region and neighbouring countries, including Ukraine.

The Call-for-Students for the CLUVEX 5th Virtual Exchange Week (20-24 April 2026) is open now

Applications are now open for the final round of the Climate University for Virtual Exchanges (CLUVEX).

The Virtual Exchange (VE) is a great opportunity to experiment interacting in an international environment – especially if you have considered applying for a traditional student exchange. Participating in the VE Week does not require an advanced knowledge base in natural sciences. More important is to be interested in climate change-related issues and workshopping in an international team. The VE Week is open to students of all fields coming from EU and EU Neighbourhood countries to explore the latest scientific perspectives on climate change: from natural and social sciences to the arts.

During the VE Week, participants will collaborate in small international groups, engage in discussions and collaborate on a “Climate Horizon” exercise that focuses on imagining a brighter future. No advanced background in natural sciences is required – being interested in climate change and international teamwork is what matters most. The VE offers students a chance to experience global collaboration online and explore what studying in an international environment can be like. Students from all fields are welcome to apply.

International Opportunities: CLUVEX Virtual Exchange, KIU Research Fellowship in Vienna, and Fulbright Program in the USA

1. Applications are now open for participation in the 3rd week of the CLUVEX Virtual Exchange (October 6–10, 2025)!
The Virtual Exchange (VE) is a great opportunity to engage in an international environment — especially if you're considering applying for a traditional student exchange in the future. Participation in the VE week does not require in-depth knowledge in the field of natural sciences. What matters most is an interest in climate change issues and the willingness to take part in seminars as part of an international team.

The VE week is open to students of all fields of study from EU countries and EU neighboring countries.

2. The Center for Cultural and Institutional Research (KIU) at the European University Viadrina is announcing a call for research fellowships

Topic: "Infrastructure Fragmentation, Infrastructure Resilience: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Technopolitics and Crisis"

Researchers are invited to explore topics related to resilience, crisis management, and transformation in the fields of history, social sciences, science and technology studies, economics, media, law, cultural studies, conflict studies, and related disciplines.

Eligibility: Researchers who obtained their PhD at least two years ago.

Application deadline: June 25, 2025

Fellowship conditions:

Duration: October – December 2025
Monthly stipend: €2,000–2,300
Additional benefit: One-time travel allowance up to €600

3. Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program

Country: United States

A nine-month teaching assistantship in Ukrainian language at U.S. universities and colleges.

The competition is open to early-career teachers and young professionals under the age of 30, specializing in linguistics, Ukrainian literature, translation studies, communications, journalism, American studies, or teaching English as a foreign language.

Candidates must hold a Master's or Bachelor's degree at the time of the fellowship appointment.

Participants of the program receive:

A monthly stipend
Health insurance
Round-trip airfare

A unique PhD event in a Baltic Sea Region context

This training aims to provide knowledge, skills and network opportunities to PhD students focusing on security and resilience in the Baltic Sea Region. Accepted students will receive mentoring and feedback on their thesis from an expert in the field, as well as participate in a research event – the BUP Symposium.

Where? Uppsala, Sweden
When? between 24-28 November 2025
Content: The theme is 'Strengthening the Security and Resilience of the Baltic Sea Region – Environmental, Political, Social, and Economic Shocks and Crises'. This training consists of three parts:
1. Online seminars
2. Training days
3. The BUP Symposium
Funding: There is no participation fee for the training and the BUP will provide all meals. However, the students are expected to cover their travel and accommodation. Selected students from Ukraine will be contacted by the BUP Coordinating Secretariat individually regarding the possibility of receiving financial support for accommodation.
Ukrainian students who can't travel will have the possibility to join some parts of the PhD Students Training online through Zoom.
The application deadline is 30 May 2025, 23:59 (CEST).

The Free State of Bavaria invites applications for its one-year scholarship program for students from Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe for the academic year 2019/20 via BAYHOST. Graduates from Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine are eligible to apply.

The scholarships are meant to finance postgraduate studies (i.e. master’s programs) and PhDs at Bavarian universities. Annual scholarships can be extended twice for up to 3 years; the scholarship amounts 735,--€ per month. One-year study sojourns in Bavaria as part of a PhD in the home country can also be funded.

The application deadline for first time applications is the 1st December 2018 (date of receipt!).

Startup Campus University - Innovative Idea Battle

Enterprise Hungary is launching its Startup Campus University - Innovative Idea Battle, a regional university-based idea competition designated for young University students with entrepreneurial spirit!

The application is open to anyone registered at a university in the following 10 European countries: Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Romania, Ukraine.

The program offers a great opportunity for students to turn startup ideas into business realities, for investors to find brainpower and innovation, and for corporates expand their HR possibilities by making connections with cross-border universities. Applicants must fill out an online form and send a short video about the problem and the solution they are developing.

A group of investment experts will select 16 out of all applicants to mentor through a 2 days boot camp in Budapest, on the 27-28th of April.

Only the 8 most promising startup finalists will compete in the end, chosen by the mentors.

The winner will be chosen at the Pioneers event in Vienna, held on May 24-25, for a chance for an investment offer up to 500K from our partner Hiventures, and to participate in the Startup Campus Summer Incubation Program.
