The Department of Public Management and Administration began its activities as part of the Faculty of Economics and Law of Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University since June 2024. Until now, the department has been fully functioning within the structure of the Odessa State Environmental University since January 1994, the founder and head of which was Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Heorhiiovych Kovalov. Since 2018, the department has been headed by Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Olena Panteliivna Pavlenko.
The department trains applicants for the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of higher education in the specialty "Public Management and Administration".
Today, the teaching staff of the department includes 9 teachers, including: 1 Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor (Olena P. Pavlenko), 6 Candidates of Economic Sciences, Associate Professors (Olesia I. Holovina, Valentyna鈥� A. Kozlovtseva, Svitlana M. Kolontai, Serhii O. Kramskyi, Albina L. Rozmaryna, Kateryna V. Smirnova), 1 Senior Lecturer (Olena S. Venger), 1 Assistant (Valentyna O. Sokolovska), 1 Teaching and Support Staff Member 鈥� Senior Laboratory Assistant Anastasiia S. Kucheruk.
Teachers take an active part in scientific and educational-methodical work, and also pay special attention to working with students, providing guidance and support in study, research and educational work.
Among the scientific achievements of the department in recent years:
- Development of the departmental research work "Innovative directions of sustainable economic development management in conditions of turbulence" 鈩� 0123 U 102409 (since March 2023), a collective monograph was published based on the results of the first stage.

Applicants of the department are involved in participating in various scientific, career guidance and educational events (scientific conferences, circles, seminars, webinars, workshops, trainings, schools, etc.) to form a comprehensively developed personality with the acquisition of soft skills that help achieve success in any field and, in particular, are important for public management and administration.
The scientific and pedagogical staff of the department constantly improve their qualifications by participating in various events. Among the latter:

During 2020-2022, the department's teachers conducted a series of sessions of distance short-term advanced training courses for civil servants and local government officials "Latest Trends in the Professionalization of Public Administration."
The department cooperates with the NGO "Agency for the Development of the Southern Region" (Mykolaiv) on the dissemination of information and knowledge, involvement of youth, holding events (seminars, forums, round tables, meetings, etc.) for the reconstruction and support of the economic development of the Southern region, in particular the development of entrepreneurship, attracting international financial support, etc. The lecturers of the department are members of the Ukrainian Association for the Development of Management and Business Education (UADMBE) and the NGO "Progressive".
