1.OCTOBER

Constituent conference on the creation of a group, definition of its purpose, plans and schedule of work. The following decisions were adopted:

  • to create a student scientific group “Japan by the eyes of young scientists” on the base of undergraduate and graduate students of Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University, who are studying Japanese;
  • to hold regular meetings of the student scientific group once a month during the academic year.

2.NOVEMBER

The meeting with the members of the student group was dedicated to the Japanese national holiday 体育の日(The Day of Sports) and 文化の日 (The Day of Culture) with invited guest D. I. Migdalskyi, representative of the World Organization of Shorinji Kempo:

  • introducing the group to various types of national martial arts;
  • discussion of the peculiarities of the historical development of Shorinji Kempo in Japan and Ukraine;
  • discussion of the features of the national theater of Japan.

3.DECEMBER

Preparation for the celebration of the 天皇說生 (Emperor's Birthday):

  • watching video materials about the ceremonies on this day;
  • discussion with students of events taking place on this day in Japan embassies with the attraction of the head's own archives.

4.MARCH

Introducing the group to the national holiday 雛祭り (Girls' Day) and Hanami as expression of the mentality of the Japanese and special respect for their own history.

5.MAY

Preparation and holding of the Open Day of the Mechnikov ONU In the Botanical Garden with the presentation of Japan фтв demonstration of national costumes.

  • to create a student scientific circle “Hellenistic Studies”, members of which can become all undergraduate and graduate students of Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University, who are studying Modern Greek;

The meeting with the members of the student circle was dedicated to the Greek national holiday “Day of OHI”:

  • group viewing of a documentary film “'ΕΜΕΙΣ ΟΙ ΕΛΛΗΝΕΣ' 7 - Ο ΕΛΛHΝΟ?ΤΑΛΙΚΟΣ ΠΟΛΕΜΟΣ (1940-1941)” about the Italo-Greek war (1940-1941);

Preparation for the celebration of the Greek Independence Day:

The rehearsal was attended by students of the 1st and 2nd years who study Modern Greek at the Faculty of International Relations, Political Science and Sociology of Odesa I. I. A benefit evening dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of the Greek poet Konstantinos Kavafis, held at the Central City Library named after Ivan Franko on May 3, 2023, under the auspices of the Consulate General of Greece in Odesa, as well as with the support of the Secretary General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Mr. Ioannis Chrysoulakis. During the 2022-2023 academic year, Y. Shevchenko headed the student scientific group of young Chinese scientists of the Department of Public Communications and Regional Studies (Protocol No. 2, dated September 05, 2022) from October 1, 2022. Approved at the meeting of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of International Relations, Political Science and Sociology (Protocol No. 2, dated September 6, 2022).

As part of the activities of the club, Y. Shevchenko:

1. Took part in the organization of the celebration of the 10th anniversary from the founding of the Chinese Cultural Center at the Faculty of International Relations, Political Science and Sociology (October 31, 2022).

The guests of honor included the rector of the Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University, Vyacheslav Truba, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Cooperation, Andriy Smityukh, Head of the Department of International Relations, Yuriy Grinchenko, Director of the Center for International Education, Natalia Kryuchkova, Head of the Department of Political Science, Vasyl Popkov, from the Chinese side - Director of the Chinese Cultural Center, Zhang Binlin, Chinese language teacher Liu Huasun and others.

At the celebratory event, students from the club who study Chinese had the opportunity to demonstrate to the honored guests their skills in Chinese calligraphy and origami, as well as in singing traditional Chinese songs, reciting Chinese skits and performing Taijiquan (see Appendix 1).

2. Moderated the presentation and discussion of research by students from the club on the topic “Foreign policy of the PRC: challenges for Europe and Asia Pacific” (May 5, 2023) (see Appendix 2).

3. Organized a lecture-discussion on the topic “Celebration of Chinese holidays: traditions and rituals”. The students (1st and 2nd year) from the club prepared for the discussion by reviewing the book series “24 Seasons of the Wheel of the Year” by the Ukrainian publishing house “Safran” (May 23, 2023) (see Appendix 3).

1994 - a diploma of graduation from the Odessa State University named after I.I. Mechnikova by specialty 02.03. Sociology. Awarded specialist qualification - Sociologist. Sociology teacher. Teacher of socio-political disciplines in secondary schools.
